Why You Need An Ovulation Calculator

Ovulation calculator

Why use an ovulation calculator?

A woman can be sure of getting pregnant if her egg and sperm meet. Normally, every woman’s body releases one egg from the ovary on a monthly basis. This is called ovulation. The egg and sperm need to meet soon after an egg is released in order to get pregnant. Therefore, you can improve your chances of getting pregnant by knowing when you are likely to ovulate. One way of knowing is the use of an ovulation calculator. Use this calculator below to determine your ovulation.
After calculating your ovulation with this calculator, you will know when to plan for pregnancy with your partner.

How do I know it is the right time?

Your doctor may ask you to have sex with your partner every day or at least every other day about the time of ovulation. In fact, you need to get busy especially during the 5 days before your ovulation. This is your fertile window. It is good to have the sperm lying in wait for your egg. Normally, sperm survives for a few days inside the body.

You are likely to ovulate on day 14 if you have a 28-day menstrual cycle. However, your fertile window starts on the 10th day of your cycle. For a 28-day cycle, try to begin regular sexual intercourse every other day from days 10 to 14. But don’t forget that the ovulation calculator helps determine your ovulation with ease.

What are the hormone and body changes?

The body undergoes a few hormone changes during the menstrual cycle. For example, in the first half of your menstrual cycle, your ovary produces estrogen which gradually rises leading to ovulation. Then your body produces progesterone which increases your body temperature.

So check your body temperature, called basal body temperature, every day before getting out of bed in the morning. You may notice a temperature pattern over a few months that indicates when your ovary releases an egg.
Further, your hormones alter your cervical mucus texture.

Cervical mucus is the sticky fluid that flows from the cervix. It increases in volume and feels more slippery and stretchy as your body is about to ovulate. Also, it appears like a raw egg white. This is your fertile window as the texture helps sperm to swim seamlessly.

What is the use of ovulation predictor kits?

Ovulation tests using predictor kits help determine your fertile window. Ovulation predictor kits are used to measure urine levels of luteinizing hormone (LH). This hormone rises in the 24 to 36 hours before your ovary releases an egg.
There are enough test strips to enable you to check your LH levels several times during your cycle. So start testing a few days to possible ovulation and over the next few days to determine the exact day of your ovulation. You are in your fertile window when your LH has reached its highest level.

Does ovulation cause pain?

Slight pain on the side of your abdomen, halfway through your cycle signifies imminent closure of your fertile window. So do not wait for the pain if you want to get pregnant.
